The grand opening ceremony of International Scout Centre Rustavi was held on 21st of June. As we have mentioned many times, our Scout Centre aims to promote scouting development in Georgia, support youth organizations and to encourage future international exchange programs. International Scout Centre includes European quality of buildings, youth centre and camping area.
The president and the founder of -Caucasus Cooperation Foundation for Youth Development-Bruno Jimelli opened the opening ceremony, followed by a representative of- Kandersteg International Scout Centre. Rustavi Scout Centre received three precious gifts from Kandersteg: A certificate showing the gratidude and the delight with the opening, two neckerchiefs and last but not least, a mountain crystal grown over thousands of years taken from the Gestern Valley, as a symbol of our friendship with Kandersteg and a reminder of the strength and willpower.
During the ceremony, guests were taken to the tour around Centre premises, saw a theatrical performance, and got involved in different scout activities. Scout anthem was sung at the ceremony, flags raised upon the Centre. On the campsite, there was a special place for Georgian cuisine, gallery, and wine. Our guests had an opportunity to grill Mtsvadi, make Churchkhela and to taste our traditional food and wine. The event was decorated with Georgian national songs and dances. The band “Shelby” and cosmic fireworks completed the ceremony.
Scout Centre guests were following groups and organizations: Organization of the Scout Movement, Kandersteg International Scout Centre (Switzerland), representatives of Caucasus Cooperation project, Self-governing City Hall Rustavi, Georgian non-governmental organizations, Swiss embassy, Georgian-Swiss Business Association, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Rafting and Paragliding Federation.
